We named this disco after the smallest town in New Mexico - A Ghost Town Reborn....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madrid,_New_Mexico

The town of Madrid (pronounced with the accent on the first syllable: MAD-rid, not Ma-DRID (http://www.visitmadridnm.com/) was founded in 1869, but it wasn’t until the 1880’s when the Santa Fe Railroad arrived in the area, that coal mining began on a large scale. By this time, the short lived gold had played out, and most of the solitary miners gave way to larger companies who moved in to develop large coal mining operations.
As many as 1,500 years ago the first Native American inhabitants mined the turquoise and lead deposits in the nearby hills. When the Spaniards first arrived in 1540, they largely ignored the Indians and their turquoise, more interested in finding the more valuable minerals of silver and gold. Absolutely the perfect disc and size for camping and overlanding. But ya know what? I have also cooked every home cooked meal on it too since I received it! Kudos for the vets who produce and own this company. I will be ordering another disc and accessories soon! Thanks

    The Best

Posted by Armando on 19th Apr 2020

After trying different types of cooking products I decide to buy a disc from Southwest Disc. I'm very impressed with my purchase, I started it by season it with lard. It was ready to use when I got it, just want to get a feel for the disc. I made some fried rice that evening, it was my best cooking experience using this disc. My dish came out perfect. Looking forward to making other dishes besides Oriental cooking. I highly recommend this product.

    Beautiful & Functional

I bought my first cast iron pan when I was 15. Almost 30 years later, I still have it. I've gone through a number of non-stick woks. My wife doesn't seem to realize that a metal spatula is for the cast iron and a plastic/rubber or wood spatula is for non-stick pans. Well, I finally found a wok where it doesn't matter. I bought a 24" for cooking large meals while camping. When it arrived, I couldn't believe how big and heavy it was. I turned around and bought the 18" and it's more practical for everyday use. Both were shipped quickly. Both are heavy-duty and well make. The patina from the heat on the handle welds help make the disks absolute works of art. I'm pretty sure they will get well used and they will last for the rest of my life. If I could go back, I'd have bought the 22" with removable legs rather than the 24". Just seems a little more diverse and practical for my original outdoor camping needs. I'm a veteran of two branches of the military. Glad to see my fellow vets passing a part of their craft onto others. These works of practical, culinary art will not disappoint!

    I’m in love!

I accidentally ran across an article on Discadas surfing the Internet. I instantly knew I had to get one! I love cooking and having the best tools. Where has this been my whole life? When I found southwest discs I quit looking and knew I landed on where I would get one. First, this is run and owned by veterans. Thank you all for your service! Second, we own and operate a horse boarding business. When I saw the horseshoe handles, well I can’t say what I said here, I was so excited

    Best DIsk Ever

This is our second Disk. I have previously purchased the 22" disc for our off grid cabin and I knew when I bought that one, it was so nice I would buy another one for home. We purchased this smaller one for Jeep Overland trips. It is smaller but still large enough to cook for 2-4 folks on. I can't picture camping or deer camp with out one anymore. This is our man cooking item., you can cook everything from breakfast to dinners on this and only use one, much better than taking several pots and pan and frying pans to deer camp. Be sure to check out some of our videos if you have time. We love love love our Southwest Disc. Dale Heartland Outdoor Living.

    Great craftsmanship ...

Been looking for a long while for a comal that was quality for my wood fired brasero, no luck. All metal comals were too big and not quite the right thickness. Found SW Disk and I am so happy! Perfect size, great craftsmanship, good weight, fast shipping and great price. It works beautifully .. nice and even heat distribution and good sized handles (I opted for horseshoes). Perfect for stir-frying, too! Thanks for a quality utensil.
