The Trinity Site, New Mexico (wiki link)

The Nuclear Age was ushered in with the world's first atomic detonation at Trinity Site on July 16, 1945. Trinity Site is located on the northern end of Whites Sands Missile Range in central New Mexico. Trinity Site, now only mildly radioactive, is open to the public for one day, twice a year.

Included on the Trinity Site tour is Ground Zero where the atomic bomb was placed on a 100-foot steel tower. A small monument now marks the spot. Visitors also see the McDonald ranch house where the world's first plutonium core for a bomb was assembled. The missile range provides historical photographs and a Fat Man bomb casing for display. There are no ceremonies or speakers.
Trinity Site is open to the public twice a year--on the first Saturday in April and October.

    Old School

Posted by Chris Gee on 7th Jun 2015

So my old man and I decided that we needed to expand our grilling mindset and get back to some of the older outside cooking that we enjoy. "Diskos" are abundant in El Paso, but the quality that we remembered (fifteen years ago) has diminished. Dad decided that he needed a 22" disko, and I searched all the local swap meets that sold them. All of them had the rim that he didn't want, and were curiously thin. Amazon led me to Southwestdisk. All the pictures looked like the disks I remembered our local vendors carrying so I took a chance. I ordered on a Sunday and received my disk on Tuesday. Solid is the best word for the disko I received. Cooked with it this morning. Bacon to help with the seasoning (it arrived seasoned), and eggs, beans, and choizo. Easy clean up and wiped it down with some oil before putting it away. Very pleased with the quality of this disk and look forward to the meals it will provide for my family at home and on the road. Disks will last as long as you care for them and some thing you can pass down to the inspiring cooks in your family. This is one my Dad and I will enjoy together and will pass down to my son when he outdoors it with is own.

    Plow Disk Cooking

Posted by Ray Jackson on 23rd May 2014

I used to make these disks for friends when I was pipe welder and had my own rig. After giving mine away many years ago I decided I wanted another one. Southwest sent me one straightway and as stated it was ready for use. Everyone enjoyed this style of cooking...so great job Southwest. Ray

    Excellent

Posted by Kevin on 23rd Sep 2013

I very rarely take the time to review a product, but wanted to let you know I am completely satisfied. I was planning on just making my own, but at the price it was a no brainier to just order and be done. The welds were great, the prep was done right, and it showed up at my door step pre-seasoned! We had a few friends over and cooked up some dove fajitas. My wife said stir fry is next. The options are unlimited. Thanks for a great product at very fair price!

Trinity 22" is a cookin' machine!

Posted by Unknown on 10th Sep 2013

Thick metal...and did I say THICK ...A real pleasure to cook on...predictable and controlable heating makes for good results. The Trinity handles are very good and solid...makes the disk easy to control....We enjoy it home and at the lake. Superior!

    Excedes Expectations

Posted by Dr Gary Woodcock on 4th May 2013

Saw my first southwest disk 3 weeks ago Had to have one. Bought the 22" Trinity one week later. It is everthing I expected and more. In one word it is fun. Fun to cook with. My wife is so surprised with my willingness to cook dinner. I can not wait to take it car camping. Well made at a bargain price. I have recommended it to my son who is a very successful professional chef.

You won't find a better value!

Posted by Chris Harrelson on 2nd Mar 2013

I cook and barbeque as a hobby and cater part time.I think that the discada's that Southwest Disc produces are as good a value as you will find anywhere. The welds are top notch and the discs are the perfect thickness for cooking whatever your imagination can dream up. These discs will provide a lifetime of use for you. Couldn't be happier with my Trinity.
